Research Experience:

  • 05/2013- 07/2016 Jefferson University/Christiana Care Health System We developed a multidisciplinary team model in Cardiac Care Intensive Unit where a cardiologist, a medical intensivist, a cardiology fellow, internal medicine residents and interns, ICU nurses, ICU pharmacist and respiratory therapists work together in a team to coordinate the complex care of patients. This approach impacted many outcomes including patients’ mortality, morbidity and length of stay in both ICU and the hospital. The results of this study was published at May Clinic Proceedings.
  • 06/2010-07/3013 University of Houston Medical School at Houston, Texas During postgraduate training in internal medicine I participated in a number of studies, some of which have yielded in publications in distinguished journals. These projects included studies of urgent low-dose fibrinolytic therapy followed by urgent PCI versus PCI alone for treatment of STEMI; Quality improvement for detection and urgent intervention in patients sustaining STEMI while hospitalized; and the use of left atrial appendage exclusion devices to prevent stroke in cases of atrial fibrillation.
  • 09/2005 - 03/2008 University of British Columbia, Vancouver, British Columbia
    Research Assistant
Research work conducted in fulfillment of the requirements for the Master of Science in Experimental Medicine. The project was focused on studying the role of immune system in initiation and propagation of autoimmune diseases. Particularly, the role of cytotoxic cells and their products were examined using animal models for the autoimmune disease alopecia areata
